Christmas presents from home!

Three Degrees of Glory!

Sister Cashman being Australian

Santa Breanna!

Aunt Dizzy and Aunty May

Too many lollies!

Flat Sisters!

HI FAMILY! sooo sorry i forgot to tell you but we are having p-day today on new years eve instead of last monday because today we have to be in the flat by 5 because of the holiday. so yeah.. but anyways... christmas was sooo fun! It was so different and didn't really feel like Christmas, but I felt so close to my Savior, and thats really what it is all about! :) But i LOVED seeing the pictures of all of the presents that you all made each other, they were so cool! It looked like a fun Christmas!

We went to the Tou's for breakfast, (my favorite family from the cook islands), and Sister Tou was thanking us for being there and then she starts talking about how our families miss us and stuff and then I just started crying... hahahahaaha! And then when we were about to leave to go skype you at the chapel, i started crying again, i was scared man! hahahah But it was sooo good to see you and hear your voices! I have such a cute family! haha But then we had lunch with the elders and other sisters at part member families home from the other branch, and they were super fancy and had all of these guests that showed up dressed all nice and we showed up in gym shorts and t-shirts because we were planning on playing in the back yard... hahahah so yup, we just playing tennis and basketball and stuff which was soo fun! Except for the humidity... that was killer! Then we went to aunty dezzy's house and chilled for awhile before going to the chapel and having dinner with the luki family and all of their extended family and had a feast with a whole pig and all! except we were already so full from eating that whole day so we tried to eat as much as we could... haha and then to end of the day, we went back to aunty dezzy's and watched the video "He knows my name" the new one that just came out apparently?.. its only about a half an hour long but its soo good! So cute!
But thats about all i remember from these past couple weeks.... it really has been a blur.. hahahah and it probably doesn't help that i woke up with the flu yesterday so we had to go to the doctors office and then had to stay home for the rest of the day :( I hate not being able to go work but its all good.

So i will be emailing you all again next monday, so I will try to have a longer and better email then! :) But know how much I love you and i hope you have a great new years!

Which way? (how either aboriginals or torres strait islanders say how are you) :) Im same way! (doing good) haha they say the weirdest things over here.... haha

well guess what, BEST DAY EVER!! so good news.. i got the 12 days of christmas package on the 11th so just in time!!! ahhh i love it! I have seriously laughed so hard at the clever poems that go along with the little presents! haha I love it. But i hope my package comes to you all in time so kyle will have something to open up on christmas eve.. hahah so dont open the package until then! :) Also i wont be emailing next week because ill be skyping!!! so thats good news! :D I can hardly even believe that i am actually going to see you and hear your voices!!! ahhhhh sooo pumped.

So, its true.. sis yee got transferred back down to brisbane for her last 2 transfers. soooo sad. and also sister mcmichael (american in our flat) that goes home this transfer got sent down to brisbane as well, along with our zone leader elder tupou. sooo sad! its seriously so different without them! I miss them soo much already! haha but my new companion is named sister cashman! she is an aussie from sydney and is helping me learn to speak with an australian accent. :) haha so thats good news! she is 24 (all my comps have been 24) and is very nice! she seems funny too and she is a hard worker and very obedient. so it will be really good! but she goes home with sister yee so pretty much all of my companions are going to die really soon. sad. haha and sister mewa was supposed to go home the end of this transfer but because of some swollen discs in her back or something, she went home today. but i did get to talk to her on the phone before she left which is really good! I am sure going to miss her and idk when ill see her again :(

But anyways this past week, me and sister yee had a great week to end the transfer! We saw a lot of miracles as we were able to go to yarrabah. We went on splits while we were in yarrabah, so i was with Tara (34 year old who always comes with us) and our branch mission leader. and so we went to brother poas friends house but he said he didn't want us to teach him a lesson, so we tried to go to other places but no one was home, so finally after about an hour, bro poa had to go to the bathroom, so we decided to go back to his friends place and when we got there, we met his partner and they decided to let us come in and share a message with them because no one else was home. we ended up leaving a book of mormon with them and he was really excited about reading it and for us to come back! so that was a miracle!

So we had a christmas party/ secret santa with the sisters on sunday night before they left. it was so fun! we each did a talent, mcmichael sang because she had an angel voice, atu'ake did a hula dance, i lip sang to mcmichael singing, and sis yee did a somersault. hahaha it was so fun! and for my present i got that piggy bank and a crown and fake lips. so thats cool. ahhaha I sure do miss them!

well sorry, this email is all over the place, but just know how much i love you!!! sooo much! and I will see you all next week! wooot wooot! so make sure you pick up the call when i am calling you on skype. haha have a great week!

love, Breanna

Ni Hao everyone!!!! (this is probably the last time i will be able to say that.... sis yee will 90% probs be transferred by next week) Soooo this past week was so hard. Like the hardest week in my mission so far for sure, but man, I am sure excited for this coming week! I know its gonna be good! :) But this past week, we had super high goals and every day we felt so good and excited about the work we were going to do, but everyday it was a struggle. literally no one was ever home. ahahaha love that! haha But its ok because we received so many blessings in exchange for the somewhat discouraging week!

One blessing I received was that I finally got the package from the fam haha :) and also a huge blessing.... So we were teaching Geoffrey, (investigator aussie man whose wife of only a couple months died suddenly this past june due to unknown causes) and he always talks about her and is having a really hard time feeling at peace and things because he doesn't know how his wife died. But we had a great lesson and the spirit was really strong and he said he was thinking about baptism and things and that he knows the church is true, and so at the end of the lesson we asked him to say the closing prayer. He said no at first but as we asked him what was stopping him from praying and helped him understand more, he said one of the most heart felt prayers i have ever heard. The spirit was sooo strong! I know he felt it. But that was our big miracle for the week!

So update on Zonny, the little boy who got hit by the car, he is back to his crazy hyper self! haha he went home last tuesday and got his stitches out in his ear and head and he has scars and things all over his body, but he came to church on sunday and was running around and doing great! So that was a miracle!

Also funny story... So last friday, me and sister yee were really feeling the stress and were pretty discouraged from the week and so we were talking, (and crying :)) outside of our investigator, Song's house before our appointment. And as we were talking, we see Song walking up the hill, and so we are like, Oh no, how are we going to explain us crying... so as she comes up the hill, sis yee rolls down the window and starts talking to her in chinese and then after a minute, she turns to me and asks me how old Molly was...(investigator who passed away last week) and so i was kind of confused but then after telling her Molly's age, I realized that she had told Song that we were crying because our investigator had just died. oh man, i was laughing so hard! haha

but don't worry, we had a great ending to the week! We had at least 10 nonmembers at church and then today we drove up to Port Douglas with the elders, so its been fun! But Port Douglas was so beautiful! The drive all the way up there was right on the coast of the beach, sooo beautiful! But I am so excited for this coming week and I know that great things are going to happen! And I know that there is no need to get discouraged now, and getting discouraged is a very selfish thing, so I am working on that :) Also we find out this saturday who is getting transferred and so that means that we will have p-day on tuesday next week which is the start of the new transfer, so wish me luck! haha

LOVE YOU!!! have the best week ever! and go play in the snow for me! :)

What up? dude, can you believe that its already almost december and that we find out if we get transferred next saturday?! ahhh no! sis yee will probably go down and ive been trying not to cry when i think about her leaving me... hahaha i wish we could just be companions for the rest of my mission, but hey, its all good. :) But this past week was so fun!

last monday we had a region meeting with the sisters and since we are up north, we got to skype everyone down in brisbane and watch them have a party.. hhaha but it was good! and i got to see sister mewa!! oh man, i miss her! and she goes home next transfer, so thats super crazy..

Also this past week, a recent convert Agnes, from the torres strait islands, came out with us. And after we visited a couple people, we dropped her off at the school so she could ride the bus back with her kids. Then later that day, we were having dinner at a members home. And this member is apart of the Luki family in cairns. (Pretty much their whole family makes up our branch and the other cairns branch) So as we were having dinner, more of their cousins and family members kept coming, so we were all having fun with this big group and then our branch president who is also a Luki came, and he told us that Agnes's son had been hit by a car earlier in the day and that he was in the emergency room and was in critical condition. Me and sister yee were in shock because we had dropped her off earlier that day. but we didn't want to just leave without sharing a message so we tried our best to focus as we showed them a mormon message and things, but after we did that, we booked it out of there and drove to the hospital. When we got there, we ran in and got permission to go back and see them. And Agnes was being very strong. But the little boy who was 6 years old, named Zonny, was lying on the bed and his left eye was soo black and swollen shut. He was all scraped from road rash over his face and body and his ear was split. Apparently he had been playing outside of his house and he ran out in the road right as a car was coming down the hill going about 50 or 60 km/h. (idk what that is in mph) But He is doing much better now and luckily he didn't have any broken bones or internal bleeding or anything. It was a miracle! But it sure scared us!

Also this week we got to drive down to Innisfail (over an hour south of cairns) for a combined district variety show. So pretty much the 4 branches all came up with a skit, a fun song, a cultural song, and a spiritual song. It was so fun! And it was cool to travel a little bit, Australia sure is beautiful!

But i just got cut short cuz the elders need to get on, but just know how much i love you all!!! And i hope you have a great week!!!!! LOVE YOU!!!

4 Sisters in the flat

Coconuts growing on the ground?

Poor Sister Yee.  At least she knows she's loved.

Sisters with Jordan, an investigator

Sister Alldredge with her Aboriginal Grandparents

This week has been craazy but so good! I know its hard to believe but i did have a little struggle at the beginning of the week because I was thinking more about home when I heard about Sophie but thanks to prayers and a priesthood blessing from Elder Boyce (the senior couple here in cairns), we were able to have such a great week! Missions are funny, you will never have a day that will go exactly as planned and you will always be rejected over and over again BUT miracles happen every day every day every day. Heavenly Father is so so merciful.

But this past week we started teaching a girl named jean, she is 19 and her mom is a less active that hasn't been to church since before jean was born so she didn't know anything about it, but as we briefly taught her, the spirit was so strong and i felt prompted to invite her to be baptized, and she accepted! So that was a miracle!

Also i finished memorized the Living Christ, it took awhile because I was a little slack but I finally finished it! So that has been a huge blessing and I have grown closer to my Savior as i have memorized it. So i encourage you all to memorize it! or just read it, either way :)

Another miracle we had this week was when we went to the Benioni families house. They are a less active family who has recently started coming back to church! But the dad, Danny, is aussie and has tatoos everywhere, long hair, and gages in his ears, and looks super rough but is the funniest and nicest guy ever! The mom, Naomi, is from new zealand and is always so welcoming to us. But that night our appointment feel through so sis yee suggested we go see this family. so as we got there, we were talking to them and Naomi said that her oldest daughter had attempted to commit suicide the night before and they were in the hospital all night. We felt prompted to and watched the mormon message "mountains to climb." Both of them started crying during the video and after talking to them about it, they said that we always seemed to bring the message that they needed to hear at that very moment. I am so grateful for the spirit for always leading us to know who to see and what to teach them. We could not do it without the spirit. But this experience, and many others, have strengthened my testimony that Heavenly Father is so aware of us and our feelings and thoughts and struggles. I am also reminded every single day how important it is that we are worthy of and listening to the spirit so that we can help our brothers and sisters  as we are instruments in helping answer their prayers.

Well i love you all sooo much. and I invite you all to pray for an opportunity to help answer someones prayer this week!

Best buds - Souvenir shopping
Jordan & Sister Morrison, We LOVE this family!
Christmas Nativity at Branch Christmas party!
Baby duck from the Nativity
Well, I've decided that I'm never leaving cairns and that I am going to stay here for my whole mission. Man, i sure do love this area!!!! This past week has been really fun! And we saw lots of miracles! Also i had to speak in church last minute so that was fun too :) haha But it went alright! Also sorry I didn't email you sooner today... We went to Kuranda as a district. It has all of these awesome authentic Australia stuff, like boomerangs and didgeridoos and kangaroos skins and sarongs and stuff. So that was real fun :)

One HUGE miracle that we saw this week was from a part member family, I think i told you about them last week... Carmen (the member) and her partner Amosa (nonmember) and how they said they want to be sealed. well we challenged him to pray because he said he still wanted to find out if it was true, and as we came back this week we followed up and asked him how it went. And he says, "Well actually, I can now say that I know that the Church of Jesus Christ is the only true church on earth." And my jaw must have dropped or I must have looked like I was in shock, because he kind of laughed and then told us that he had prayed the night we had came last week and after he prayed he was just laying in bed, and he felt this feeling in his heart that was something he had never felt before. He said he felt like he was getting really hot but he knew it was the spirit and that Heavenly Father was answering his prayers. WOW. I can't even describe the joy that completely filled my heart as I heard those words. I don't think I have ever felt that happy before. It is amazing to see someone change and to see them really and truly gain a testimony for themselves. He has a ways to go before he will be baptized but it was such an amazing miracle!

Also this past week, we had an early Branch Christmas Party! Dude, it was awwesome! And there were 18 nonmembers there! They have the primary do a nativity and they had live goats and chicks and ducks and guinea pigs which was so cute! And then we went to different rooms to see how different cultures celebrated Christmas! We had a papa new guinea room, a phillipino room, and a cook island room. It was so cool and we got to try unique foods for each one! It was soo fun. I send you pics of it :)

So a thought that i had as I was reading my scriptures this week came from 2 Nephi 28:24. It says, "Therefore, wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" And me and sister yee were talking about how profound and true that is. We should never be comfortable in the gospel, we should always be growing and stretching and becoming better! So I want you all to think about that this week, how or what you can do to grow and stretch and become better, because that truly is enduring to the end!

Well I LOVE YOU! make it the best week ever! :D

Tree full of bats - not the biggest she has seen but 3' wingspans
Dinner with a couple of families
Breanna hasn't changed too much thankfully.  Poor Sister Yee!
 Sushi
Sister Yee and Bre Selfie!
Ni Hao. So I can't really remember what happened this past week.. its all been a blurr, but i remember that it was good! :) but i forgot my planner at the flat so i will do my best to remember.... haha

But i learned some sad news this past week.. apparently they closed my first area and so instead of having the sisters and elders cover the ward, its just the elders and the boundaries are huge.. so thats kind of a bummer.. but its all good! :) i just want to stay in cairns foreverr. Even though our air con is broken right now and i feel sticky all the time, life here is soooo good! Man, i wish everyone was as humble as the people in Cairns!

But this past week i have really been thinking about something dad sent me last week... he said, "There will be no other time in your life when you don’t have to worry about anything else but serving so make the very best of it.  Everything you are doing is about serving others and the Lord, and that is what will bless your life and your family’s lives forever.  There is no greater joy than that!" I have been doing my best to focus on what matters most, and that is doing the Father's will. There is no greater joy then when we are becoming more like the savior and aligning our will with the Fathers. Even though i have sooo many weaknesses, As long as we are worthy of and listening to and following the spirit then we will be able to do everything Heavenly Father wants us to do.

So we had so many amazing miracles this week, but one miracle we had was that we set a baptism date with Thomas!!!! well technically the elders did... but you know Patty and Thomas? Well apparently the elders are teaching Thomas's mom and they went to see her this week and Thomas was there and they taught them both and set a date with both of them! It was a miracle because we haven't been able to see Thomas lately but we will need to get him and Patty married asap so he can get baptized in december.

We also had a part member family finally open up to us and the non member father told us that he would never forgive himself if his family wasn't sealed in the temple, so that was also a huge miracle! Now we just have to help these people progress!

Well, sorry this is kind of a short and lame email... but just know that i love you all and i am soooo happy. the joy that comes from forgetting about ourselves and our wants and needs and just focusing on others is the greatest joy ever! And then when you see people changing and becoming better, ahh. I could do this forever! But i would love to invite all of yall to pray and to ask Heavenly Father who is someone that may need help or may need a friend or something and i promise you that if you pray with real intent (which in PMG, real intent means that when we pray, we will be willing to act on the answer we receive) that the spirit will tell you a name of someone. Do it. And experience the joy that comes from following the spirit and helping that beloved child of God that He loves sooo much! And if you have any cool experiences, let me know :)

Well, i love you! so much. And have a great week! I am so excited for this coming week! Sister Yee has really taught me to love being a missionary and to just love and look forward to each new day. And i do, i love it!

The mission team over looking Yarrabah.. (My favorite couple the Staffords, the ones who can't see and the other who can't remember) LOVE THEM!!!!
FAMILY! happy halloween! and happy november! wow, i can't believe its already november..... It feels like its still june to me because of this crazy weather! And Christmas is next month.. what the?.. But anyways, this past week has been great!

So i didn't get transferred! woooh and neither did sister Yee! Oh happy day!!! And this will be sister yee's 4th transfer up here in Cairns so she will probably got back down after this one for her last 2 transfers. But Sister Taulagia, the samoan sister got sent back down to brisbane and now a tongan sister named Sister Atu'ake came up to be with Sister McMichael. She is hilarious, so it will continue to be a party in our flat. :)

But this week we had a halloween party with our 2 branches here in cairns which was super fun! Aussies don't really celebrate halloween that much but they went all out with this trunk or treat party! People would sign up to have their cars in the parking lot handing out candy and It was awesome! our branch president and his family set up this big carpet and some tables and they would act like zombies and walk toward you and you would have to shoot 6 of them with a nerf gun before they reached the table to get candy.. it was intense! hahah But it was really fun! and our investigator came with his daughter and some of the members brought their nonmember friends so it was really good!

Also... funny story... so you know Pastor John? the one that has been coming to church? well one day we were walking home at like 7:30 at night so it was pretty dark, and as we were walking we saw someone that was staggering walking toward us. So we were like, oh no, another drunk guy. So we start to walk to the side of the sidewalk and then i realized it was Pastor John! So we were like, what the? why is he drunk?! and then all of a sudden, he looks up at us and starts laughing his head off! He told us he had seen us coming so he pretended to be drunk to scare us.. hahaha oh man, we were laughing so hard! Crazy old John. :)

But anyways, this past week we were able to teach a lot and also were able to go to Yarrabah again. Being in Yarrabah is just the best! I know we can start a branch there! Anything is possible with the Lord!

Also, Kristen Hopkins just sent me a letter with the best talk ever!!!! its called "the miracle of a mission." by jeffrey r holland. yall have to read it!!!!! its so good! and also "becoming a consecrated missionary" by tad r callister, and it doesn't just apply to full time missionaries, you can live it in your everyday life because every member is a missionary! :)

But I love you all soooo much! And i sure have been missing you lately more than usual with all of these fun holidays and the family parties but its all good! :)

yours truely..... and dont mind my double chin the in the one on the left... i accidentally cut my chin off in my picture... but we have enjoyed handing out the one on the left to our branch members :)

Field full of wild Wallabies!
Sister Alldredge and Sister Yee on their way to Gordonvale!
They told her that cold water is best for "mossie bites" so she soaked paper towels!
Hello loved ones! How ya going? The pictures from the Halloween party were the best! Soo cute. We are having a Halloween trunk or treat with our branch this friday, im pumped! and then we are going to Yarrabah for Halloween. So this coming week is going to be great! But this past week has been another good one, mainly because President and Sister Henderson came up to Cairns! Best day ever! We got to have a district conference thing with them and also interviews with President. I sure love those two! Also, crazy enough, next week is transfers! we will find out this saturday if we are getting transferred or not and so that means p-day will be on tuesday next week. But im not going anywhere so thats good news! :) I just loove it here in Cairns! Except it is starting to get suuper humid... ha Oh well, its good for me.

So i don't really have a ton to say about last week... but we were working as hard as we could! we saw lots of miracles and were able to even teach 13 lessons in one day! I was so exhausted by the end of the day, but its such a good feeling to just give everything we have and to do the will of the Father. Thats been a question that has been on my mind during and at the end of each day..."have i done the will of the Father today?" Its a great way for us to reflect and to have the spirit tell us what we can work on so that we can live the law of consecration. You will all have to read the talk by Tad R. Callister on being a consecrated missionary... ill find out the title, i can't remember what it is but its so good! I want more than anything to be that type of missionary and person, because in turn we are able to become more like our Savior.

So a miracle for this week: so i think i told yall about how Patty and Thomas came to church last week and his dad who is a pastor in the Torres Strait Islands dropped them off... well the dad came to church alone this week and man, it was awesome! he enjoyed sacrament meeting and then in gospel principles, we were talking about the church of jesus christ in former times, and the lesson was so good and all of the members were testifying and at the end, john said, "i think i just might come join this church when i come back down from TI." it was so cool! ahh man, i love seeing the change of heart and the spirit working as people come to know that the church is true!

Well i love you all!

So this is gonna be a short email... because today the zone leaders had this brilliant idea to hike "the pyramid," which is the 2nd highest mountain in queensland and its a pretty much a vertical hike and hit was sooo hot and humid that i couldn't even breath! but it was fun! so I am dead right now. I can't feel my legs hahaha  but the zone leaders said it would only take like 3 hours but it took us like 5 so i only have like a half an hour to email. so sad. :)

This past week has been awesome!!!!! and this transfer is flying by.. oh man its crazy! We were working very hard last week and we were able to teach more than 40 lessons! We have been blessed so much and have seen many many miracles! And we know that those only come through exact obedience and hard hard work and constantly praying and listening to the spirit. But listen to this... so lately we have been talking about how we wanted to go to part our of area that is kind of far away, its actually a aboriginal reservation called Yarrabah. But we were able to go this last saturday! Because it is kindof a sketchy town, we went with this super old couple in our ward from yarrabah that everyone knows and our ward mission leader.  But it was probably the best day of my mission so far! We were able to see a lot of people thanks to the Staffords. But they are the funniest old couple ever.. oh man, i want to send you this video we took of them in the car.. but she is going blind and he has short term memory so when they told us that they could come, they said that they knew exactly where everyone lived so they could just tell us where to go, but when we got there, our mission leader asked them where to turn, and sister Stafford says, "I can't see, you tell em sweety." and he was just like "I can't remember." Oh, it was so funny! hahahah It happened like 5 times! haha but thanks to the Lord's help, we were able to go to the homes of those that we were supposed to see, And pretty much all of them let us come in and teach them a lesson! I love aborignal people, so so humble! But the drive to Yarrabah is beeautiful! as we were driving through the canyon, there was a ton of bush and rainforest around us, and then we came up higher and it looked over the pacific ocean over by cairns and we could see the coast and the gorgeous beaches on the side.. so beautiful! I will take a picture next time we go! I can't wait to go back! But we really feel that we will be able to start a branch in Yarrabah. I know it is possible and I know we can baptize heaps with the Lords help! We are planning to have a big showing of Meet the Mormons soon and hopefully a sacrament meeting there one sunday, so that will be soo good! the work is hastening people!

Also, update on Patty and Thomas, so they came again to church this week which was so good! and also another miracle, Thomas's dad who is a pastor from another church brought them and told us that he would come and bring Patty and Thomas next week!!!!

Oh, Good news! President and Sister Henderson are coming up this weekend for interviews and a zone conference! Wooh! I am so excited to see them!

But i love you all! and sorry this is a crazy scattered email, but just know i love you and I am so happy here serving the Lord! There is no where else i would rather be right now!!!

This past week has probably been the best week of my mission so far! first of all, general conference was soooo good! and it went by so fast! but i sure loved it! plus we saw so many miracles this week... ahh i just feel so blessed! I love being able to share this gospel with people and seeing how it can change lives!

So one of the many miracles that happened this week.... so we were watching the sunday afternoon session of general conference and it was just about to end and none of our investigators had came which we were pretty bummed about, but as we were listening to the closing song, the branch president's daughter told us that someone outside wanted to talk to us, so we went out and it was our investigators, patty and thomas! and they had biked all the way from our area to the elders area (where the chapel is) through the pouring rain to get to church! we were so bummed that they missed it but man, it was a miracle that they came!!!! Fasting works miracles, let me tell you!! :) but they said that they would come back next week, now that they knew where it was!
Another miracle we had.. we were deciding who to go see because our appointments had all fallen through, so we were prompted to go see this former investigator and as we got there, we were talking to the 2 daughters and the mom pulls up in her car and then comes and talks to us. but then she tells us that she was wondering why the sisters stopped coming around and that she wants to join the church! ahh man! heavenly father is preparing people everywhere, we just have to be worthy and listening to the spirit to know who is ready!
So this past week for our district meeting, our awesome senior couple, who i love sooo much (named elder and sister boyce from st george), told us that we would be getting trained on something that the rest of the mission wouldn't be getting until december, but president henderson said that they could train us on it because the cairns district is already ahead of the rest of the mission anyways, :) so they trained us and challengened us to memorize the living christ. so ive memorized the first 8 paragraphs so far, so its been really good! so i challenge you all to memorize it! it has brought me closer to my savior so far and i know it will help you feel closer as you do it as well!
well i love you!!! and im soo grateful for this gospel!! It is such a blessing to have it in our lives!
love, Sister Alldredge
